Every student at St Mary’s Senior School in Lexden Road, Colchester, many sporting imaginative fancy dress outfits, tackled a challenging course for the schools’ annual cross-country competition on 13 October.
Students competed in their year groups, with Year 10 and 11 girls continuing the St Mary’s tradition of wearing fancy dress for their run, which made the course a little trickier in some cases! This year a menagerie of unicorns, a full English breakfast, Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump, and a group of Minions were amongst the competitors.
The event was sponsored by friends and family and the proceeds donated to the students’ chosen charity this year, YoungMinds, the leading charity for supporting young people with mental health issues in the UK.
“The girls at St Mary’s always enter into the spirit of our annual charity cross-country event,” said Principal, Mrs Hilary Vipond. “They feel passionate about raising funds for their chosen charity and really support each other to do well. We always look forward to seeing what creative fancy dress outfits our Year 10 and 11 students will come up with!”
