Leading national fenestration contractor Radway has transformed a Harrow Council school art block with the refurbishment of windows and curtain walling using the Sheerframe system from L.B. Plastics.
The project at Weldon Park School, which Radway completed under the LHC U7 programme, involved the replacement of single glazed windows that were causing the art block to overheat in the summer months and be too cold during winter.
As main contractor, Radway was responsible for total project management covering everything from work scheduling, liaison with the school and surveying to manufacturing, installation, waste management and after care.
Radway’s PVC window and curtain walling solution for the concrete construction building combines excellent aesthetics with optimum thermal efficiency. All windows feature high performance double glazed units and are created using the Sheerframe 7000 system to deliver a continuously comfortable internal environment.
The new windows integrate perfectly with large sections of curtain walling which feature on several elevations of the twostorey block. Structural integrity is assured thanks to an aluminium grid system which is designed to take bending and sheer loads. This Sheerframe grid system also has its own drainage, thermal break and expansion/contraction elements constructed into the system.
