Published:  23 January, 2012

Jonathan Wall, assistant greenkeeper at the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club, was presented with the 2011 Ransomes Jacobsen-sponsored best student award at Myerscough College’s recent graduation ceremony.

Jonathan graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Turfgrass Science and was presented with the Ransomes Jacobsen Cup in recognition of his commitment and contribution to the study programme.

“Jon was of the three students from Myerscough selected by the R&A to examine sustainable management practices on a field visit to the Isle of South Uist,” comments course tutor Dr Andrew Owen. “He also completed an excellent research dissertation on the effects of heat stress on agrostis stolonifera (creeping bent grass).”

Also presented with a Ransomes Jacobsen sponsored award was James Wood, a National Diploma student who won the Ransomes Jacobson Turf Machinery Practical Award.

“James has been produced high quality work,” continues Dr Owen. “He has volunteered for extra duties and contributed to every teaching session.”
