Last call for nominations
Published:  16 December, 2011

As the deadline for nominations for the ‘Top Provider’ of the Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment (C&BE) awards looms, Sector Skills Council CITB-ConstructionSkills has called on employers and industry stakeholders to get their entries in so that outstanding providers can get the recognition they deserve.

As part of the Rewarding Diplomas Awards, which recently distributed prizes to the highest performing Diploma in C&BE students, the new ‘outstanding provider’ awards will recognise the achievements of schools, colleges and consortia across England who deliver the Diploma in C&BE.

Nominations can be made by employers from the industry and any other key parties involved in the provision of the Diploma in C&BE. Entries will be assessed against their excellence in delivery of the qualification, collaboration with business and other notable achievements. The deadline for entries is 16 December 2011, with national and regional winners to be announced at an awards ceremony on 2 February 2012.

Roy Cavanagh MBE, Chair of the Diploma in C&BE Partnership, commented: “The deadline for entries to the ‘outstanding provider’ scheme is fast approaching and we want to urge those organisations which support the Diploma in C&BE to get their nominations in.

“The Diploma in C&BE is not only a means for young people to gain knowledge and a practical insight into our industry, it is essential for bringing new ideas and skills to the sector at a time when it is facing many challenges. To successfully attract new blood into the industry we need to offer prospective entrants courses and training that can best suit their needs but that also meet industry’s needs. The idea of the Rewarding Diplomas Awards is to remind everyone why the Diploma is such a robust, challenging and important qualification.”

CITB-ConstructionSkills is inviting nominations from employers, professional bodies, trade associations, Sector Skills Bodies, Sector Skills Councils, higher education institutions and awarding bodies. In the first instance, all people need to do is to email the name of the school, college or consortia, plus a contact name and number, to rewardingdiplomas@cskills.org.
