Money for Life is a £4 million financial capability programme supported by Lloyds Banking Group and delivered in partnership with FE sector organisations throughout the UK. In the coming months, the programme aims to train practitioners in half of all FE colleges and a further 230 voluntary organisations, and through them, to reach a quarter of a million learners.
Delivery of the courses began nationwide in the last week of October, co-ordinated by the National Skills Academy for Financial Services.
Practitioners interested in delivering money management training can go on to gain a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification.
‘Teach Me’ is an interactive online course covering a series of financial topics, and offering the opportunity for participants to increase their knowledge in these areas so that they can feel more confident when delivering financial capability sessions to learners or clients.
‘Teach Others’ is a 2-day course suitable for anyone who is already confident with the subject area of financial capability but who does not already have a formal teaching qualification. Applicants could be advice and guidance workers in a further education college, work for a housing association, or volunteer for a charity that works with disadvantaged communities.
Sarah Porretta, Head of the Money for Life programme at Lloyds Banking Group said: “Together with our partners across the country, we are delivering a sustainable approach to embedding financial capability skills in the FE and community learning sectors.”
