The first phase of the project saw the implementation of a new Avaya Communication Manager core system for 220 users, all with IP Telephones, at the main Worthing Campus.
The second phase of the project has seen the expansion of the system to around 650 extensions throughout the college campus and beyond, to all remote college locations.
It also sees an upgrade to Avaya Aura® Session Manager, along with Modular Messaging and, Avaya one-X® Mobile services.
Richard Lee, IT Services Manager, Northbrook College says: “The investment in our infrastructure will bring about cost-savings and efficiency gains that will serve us well into the future. The new standardised telephony solution, with the recent upgrades, will enable migration to fully unified communications. The benefits to us as an organisation, across multiple sites, mean a standard infrastructure, the ability to make use of the cost savings associated with IP telephony, and access for staff and students to enterprise wide centrally managed applications and services.”
Nick Nind, Major Accounts Manager, Proximity Communications says: “The migration to a fully IP ready system will now enable Northbrook College to fully embrace the benefits of integration between telephony and desktop PC’s. Apart from an overall lower total cost of ownership, the Avaya architecture will mean cost savings from SIP connectivity and reduced PSTN usage via a centralized architecture and VoIP enabled WAN.
“Proximity has worked with the team at Northbrook College for many years and this recent upgrade will enable the roll-out of a number of new applications and services. The new system is scalable up to 25,000 extensions and allows seamless integration of 3rd party equipment.”
Proximity Communications has one of the largest resources of Avaya accredited technicians and engineers in the UK, complemented by an array of Microsoft accreditations.
