Shelter Classroom Kit launches new Key Stage 4 resources
Published:  23 November, 2011

Teenagers worried about their ability to handle their money and find a home will be given access to vital advice with new teaching resources, launched by Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity, in partnership with Nationwide Building Society.

The Shelter Classroom Kit aims to tackle growing levels of housing concern among teenagers leaving school. Almost three quarters of 16-24 year olds think children today are financially dependent on their parents for longer than previous generations were. 40% say they are increasingly worried about their levels of debt, while this age group is most likely to be worried about losing their home.

The Key Stage 4 (KS4) resources aim to equip young people aged between 14 and 16 with basic life skills to navigate the housing market, understand homelessness and manage money. They accompany a range of KS1-3 resources, giving teachers the means to help younger pupils plan a stable future.
