Published:  23 November, 2011

Oxley Park Academy is offering school-to-school support for schools in England that have already implemented or are thinking of implementing the THRASS keyword phonics programme (whole-school, part-school or for children with special educational needs).

OxleyParkis the Centre of Excellence for THRASS inEnglandand head teacher Cathy Higgins has championed its importance within a balanced literacy programme. In their new status as training provider, schools are now able to approachOxleyParkfor consultancy services related to THRASS – an open day is planned for this term for senior managers, coordinators and school governors.

“I have always believed in the power of THRASS and the impact it has on standards when it is taught by adults with a thorough knowledge of English phonics,” explains Cathy Higgins. “Children embrace the concept with ease. This is reflected in the quality of work they produce - the children have the tools and knowledge at their disposal to use more creative words from a very early age.”
