DRS demonstrates e-Marker® electronic marking technology at FAB Annual Conference
Published:  23 November, 2011

The Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) National Conference has taken place in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, addressing an audience keen to learn more about the significant shifts in the market landscape in 2011 and global data capture specialist, DRS, was on hand to demonstrate it’s e-Marker® electronic marking technology, which contributed to a very successful summer exam season for six of the UK’s leading awarding bodies.

In addition to giving delegates the opportunity to digest details of the Wolf Report, understanding new funding regimes and Ofqual’s new approach to regulations, there was an opportunity at the Conference to find out more about the new features of DRS examination and assessment services and share examiners’ recent experiences.

400 examiners were recently surveyed by DRS and feedback confirmed their view that there were considerable improvements and benefits of electronic marking compared to traditional manual marking.  There was wide acknowledgement regarding greater accuracy of marking, greater efficiency and the positive impact of quality control.

DRS’ general manager for education, Sid Spalding, comments; “The research this summer exam season has been incredibly valuable because it clearly reveals a positive shift in opinion, showing greater understanding and confidence of electronic marking amongst markers.  The FAB National Conference is therefore an ideal platform to demonstrate the tangible benefits of electronic marking to awarding bodies, giving them a greater understanding and confidence to consider this as part of their assessment process.”
