Online safety boosted for pupils using iPads
Published:  06 July, 2011

A new internet safety tool has been launched to protect pupils using iPads at school. Netintelligence for iPads allows inappropriate or harmful content to be filtered and blocked across multiple tablets via a web-based control panel. The software is already used by many schools and education authorities to keep pupils safe online when they’re using latops or desktop PCs.

The new child safety software was unveiled by IT company Westcoastcloud at the recent UK Child Internet Safety summit.

“Children’s safety online is a critical issue for everyone in education,” said Bill Strain, director of Westcoastcloud. “The growing use of iPads by schools means teachers are once again being challenged by technology to better protect pupils using the internet.”

Children’s Minister Tim Loughton, who addressed the summit, said: “New technology has an amazing ability to educate and entertain, but it also has the ability to expose children to danger. Industry and retailers have a part to play in helping to keep children safe online.”
