Ground breaking primary maths resources launched
Published:  17 June, 2011

The teaching of primary school maths is set to be revolutionised following the launch of the first ever Electronic Learner Response system complete with resources covering the entire curriculum. Learning Clip Plus from Learning Clip combines wireless handsets with hundreds of colourful, stimulating interactive exercises from the Learning Clip website.

Designed for use with any interactive white board and wireless ActiveVote and ActivExpression handsets, Learner Clip Plus gives all pupils the opportunity to answer every question at the same time in group activities – brought to life by fun, engaging, characters Triangle Man, Zero Gravity and Bread Head.

“We’ve taken a lot of time to consider the needs of teachers to develop a system that is quick to get up and running, easy to use with minimal training and most importantly enhances teaching and learning,” said Patrick Walker, Learning Clip Managing Director.

No marking is required and teachers save preparation time by simply logging on to the Learning Clip website and choosing a maths activity to be projected onto the classroom whiteboard.

Children then use their handsets to answer questions by sending text, numeric or multiple choice answers back to the teacher’s computer. The Learning Clip system collects and marks the answers providing instant feedback to pupils, and an amazingly detailed snapshot of the class’s performance for the teacher.

The resources, which incorporate video clips and worksheets, have been developed in conjunction with practising teachers to improve pupils’ learning experience.

“The system is pioneering, facilitating Formative Assessment by giving teachers instant feedback and insight into the performance of each individual pupil in their class,” said Andrew Foster, Deputy Head at Little Hoole Primary School,  Preston.

“It is easy to use and flexible, with teachers being able to quickly access activities from across the curriculum. By adding a new dimension to classroom instruction, the content is engaging and has been incredibly well-received by both teachers and learners.”

Andrew has been instrumental in Learning Clip’s development having introduced the resource to pupils in 2007. It is now actively used across all year groups at the school.

“Reviewing pupils’ long term performance has never been easier, enabling us to identify and address any areas of weakness,” he added.

The system supports up to 38 pupils at a time and is easy to install and configure
