Hampton College expands sports facilities with a Spaciotempo sports hall
Published:  17 June, 2011

Hampton College, Peterborough, built in 2005 to accommodate the expanding student population from the large suburban housing estate in which it resides, is a well designed, modern school boasting impressive facilities and has been rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Growth in demand for places over the last couple of years led to the need for additional sports buildings. As a result the school worked with Spaciotempo UK Ltd – a leading supplier of temporary buildings to the education sector – to provide a modular sports hall on site for a period of 3 years whilst the next phase of the school’s growth is planned.

A 15m x 20m temporary sports hall was installed on site together with specialist hi-tech lighting to create a light and airy teaching environment. The school’s specification included a specialist wooden joisted floor, designed to absorb impact and minimise risk of injury whilst an advanced heating and air-conditioning system was installed to provide an ambient temperature for the students’ participation in sports. The 3m high structure provides ample space for table tennis, dance and floor gymnastics, amongst a variety of other games, sports and activities.

Internally the building has been exceptionally finished with flush fitted, double insulated walls and public access doors for ease of entry.

Hampton College Business Manager, Susan Wojtowicz, is pleased that the school has been able to provide additional space for the students to enjoy sports at school.

“The temporary sports hall is doing a good job for us whilst we plan our future space requirements. At Hampton College we are committed to offering a wide range of activities to encourage participation by all and the solution provided by Spaciotempo enables us to fulfil that commitment”.
