5 stars for kitchen at Whitecross Hereford, High School and Specialist Sports College
Published:  08 April, 2011

Once again specialist private and public education catering contractors, Alliance in Partnership (AiP) have achieved top marks from a local council Environmental Health Officer (EHOs) inspection.

Whitecross High School & Specialist Sports College in Hereford educates over 900 pupils, with AiP managing their catering provision for 11 years.

The EHO officers, from the Scores on the Doors scheme, visited the AiP kitchen on 14th March and awarded five out of five in accordance to the Food Safety Act 1990.

Previously, AiP were awarded four out of five and since the promotion of Donna Wilkes to Catering Manager last June, her enthusiasm and management changes have made a huge impact on the running of the kitchen, mirrored by the improved ratings.

“I am delighted that Donna and the team gained a five star rating,” says Anne Bounton-Preece, AiP Operations Manager. “They are an excellent team and deserve this as they all work hard in keeping the kitchen and equipment clean and tidy. I know the school is very proud of them too.”

AiP, Integral and Whitecross Hereford High School work in partnership maintaining costs and improving quality levels through sustainability and tight procurement administration. Positive opportunities are always sought after and embraced at every level; Zena Ree’s was nominated by the school and crowned Best Cook in AiP’s 2010 Excellence Awards, bananas were sponsored by AiP to help improve the energy and concentration levels of 180 pupils through their mock exams and the prestigious Food for Life award was accredited at Bronze level in December last year.

It’s been an optimistic 2011 so far for AiP, securing almost £2million in new contract triumphs and contract retention. With a further 15-20 new contract wins set as a benchmark objective David Weller, AiP Managing Director comments “There are still difficult times ahead with government funding cuts and pressures to provide sustainable foods and cost cutting initiatives but our partnership focus with the schools we work alongside is proving very successful and we’re all looking forward to what the future has in store.”
