ECO-Lodge educates your school on being green!
Published:  08 April, 2011

Educating the public on how to preserve the environment has been in the top headlines for quite some time now. As adults we have had to teach ourselves a new way of living that involves recycling, energy conservation and learning to use cars and pesticides that don’t damage our Earth. Unlike us, children have the advantage that they are not learning this process but living this process. The government and many private trusts are offering large funding initiatives to help teach our children and our communities about Green Responsibility.

As a result Timberline has produced an ECO-Lodge. The ECO-Lodge is not just a building made of sustainable sources but a living breathing example of how generate your own power, food and water. The building incorporates items such as a wind turbine, sedum roof, solar panels, compost bin, recycling bins, water butt, double glazed windows, green house, planters and nesting boxes. Inside there are energy meters that allow it’s user to see how much energy is being generate and used. At then end of the day you are also left with plenty of indoor space that could have multiple uses, such as an outdoor classroom for schools, scout guides, bird watching or environmental groups, craft groups, ICT learning, special needs groups or allotments.
