SportsArt success at Lord Lawson of Beamish School
Published:  08 March, 2011

The comprehensive school - Lord Lawson of Beamish, appointed SportsArt Fitness UK to planning and supply of equipment for a dual-purpose use “Fitness Suite Project” – to be used by staff, students and the wider general public.

Headed up by John Reach Deputy Head teacher and Iain Beveridge Director of Services, they looked for an eco-friendly, total fitness solution. They looked to appoint a company to advise on selection, supply and service a range of fitness equipment to a predetermined budget. The equipment needed to look modern, offer innovative technical features, yet be user friendly.

Several companies were invited to tender including SportsArt and from the outset, a number were eliminated as they offered refurbished equipment and concerns were raised over safety and reliability.

John Reach Deputy Headteacher reported, “SportsArt experience was invaluable, as they quickly establish a rationale for how the fitness suite would be used and presented scaled drawings, proposals for equipment selection and layout. Following visits to other gyms using SportsArt equipment, this instilled us with further confidence and we award them the contract.

Although the tender was not the lowest, SportsArt offered premier quality equipment backed by its comprehensive manufacturers warranty and scheduled maintenance care package, which was far superior to competitors. The tender included for onsite staff training and supply of marketing and advertising products to help us promote the dual-purpose facilities to the general public.

The gym enables us to offer fitness modules to our GCSE work and students, staff and the local community is keen to take up membership. Overall the project has been a very beneficial initiative to Lord Lawson.”
