Creative Partnerships boosts teachers’ skills and career progression
Published:  08 March, 2011

Creative Partnerships has a profound impact on teachers’ professional development and supports career progression, according to new independent research from the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER).

The Evaluation of the Nature and Impact of the Creative Partnerships programme on the Teaching Workforce highlighted the following impacts on teachers: 93% of teachers feel the programme contributes to their professional development with 62% reporting that it has a greater impact than other professional development programmes. 76% of teachers said the programme gave them an enhanced enthusiasm for teaching while 80% said it gave them the confidence to try new ways of working that help children to be more creative. 86% of teachers reported that working with Creative Partnerships in schools helps them to develop skills for working with creative professionals and 43% of teachers that the programme had changed or enhanced their career.

Paul Collard, Chief Executive of Creativity, Culture and Education (CCE), said: “The Government’s recent Schools White Paper ‘The Importance of Teaching’ argues that teachers learn best from other professionals and that too little teacher training takes place on the job. Creative Partnerships is already doing this successfully.“
