Schools across the North West have been urged to review costs and finances and operate efficiently, at an event hosted by Lloyds TSB Commercial.

Held at the Whites De Vere Hotel in Bolton on 11 February, the seminar was the second of three such events being hosted around the North West by Lloyds TSB Commercial’s specialist Education Banking team to highlight the bank’s commitment to schools in the region. The first event in December last year was held in Manchester, covering the Greater Manchester area, and the third is to be held in March on the Wirral, covering the Chester and Wirral area.

Around 50 representatives from schools and local authorities attended the event, which also included guest speakers from the online payment handler for schools, ParentPay, and Lloyds TSB’s online business administration service, LloydsLink.

Chris Parker, senior manager for Lloyds TSB Commercial’s Education Banking team in the North West, said: “Given the recent nationwide austerity drive, it is more important than ever for schools to manage their finances efficiently. Making school payments and banking services available online provides an easy way to keep track of a large number of small transactions quickly and efficiently, and removes unnecessary paperwork for administrative staff.

“We have noticed an increasing demand from schools to make better use of the financial resources and services available to them, particularly with the growth of academies.

“Our team of specialists understand the unique issues facing schools and the support and guidance that they require, and can provide specific and relevant guidance on funding and financial structuring accordingly.

“In the North West I have three relationship managers who solely deal with schools both secondary and primary, and they have been heavily involved with the new academies.”
