The BIC Picture, created by BIC®Kids, was open for primary-aged children across the country to draw their vision of ‘Life in the Future’ using a variety of artist medium. It was judged by children’s TV presenter Anna Williamson, artist James Mylne who recently recreated The Girl With A Pearl Earring using a BIC Cristal® pen, and BIC’s Professor of Colour, Cécile Parenton. The judges awarded six lucky winners BIC goodies for themselves and their schools based on creativity, originality, high technical skill and good use of colour.
Cecile Parenton, said: “BIC is committed to encouraging children to find ways to express themselves creatively and develop young talent, through products that are both practical for parents, but fun for children to enjoy. We launched the BIC Picture to keep children creative during the long summer holidays and give mum and dad a break as well. “
James Mylne said: “BIC really tapped into a great idea to push creativity within younger children and the results were fantastic. You could really see how individuals used different colouring materials to achieve quite distinctive imagery. Children are so creative at this age and unbound by their imagination, that it was great to really see how they used colour and technique in drawings of their visions of the future”
Anna Williamson commented; “The range of entries was extensive with so many colours and materials being used. It was amazing to see how the different age groups approached the topic and how both boys and girls viewed the world in the future”
