“We are delighted that the Minister of State for Schools has agreed to speak at conference,” said Julian Stanley, Chief Executive of Teacher Support Network. “It shows just how important the issue of discipline is to parents, teachers and politicians.”
The event will also include results of the 2010 Behaviour Survey from Teacher Support Network and Parentline Plus, with promotional assistance from the National Union of Teachers (NUT). The survey, which closes at the end of September, has been sent to trainee, qualified and recently retired teachers to help the charities gain a clearer understanding of the impact of behaviour in schools, as well as suggestions for the future.
“It was really important for us to know what was really happening to teachers in schools,” explains Julian Stanley. “We have a relatively clear understanding of the issues teachers face on a daily basis through calls to our Support Lines, as well as the stories we are seeing increasingly regularly in the news, but the results of this survey will allow us to see behind the headlines and to focus on the issues that matter most.”
The event will also include video footage of parents, teachers and children and will coincide with the launch of a new factsheet offering advice and support to teachers with regard to behaviour.
