The extension in funding is vital for supporting colleges and training providers who are making the transition from the NQF to the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), allowing more time for planning and organising the move with minimal disruption to the delivery of the qualifications.
NCFE is working closely with its customers to ensure minimum impact for centres, to allow for the registration of learners via existing procedures, teaching plans and work and supporting material, helping to significantly reduce the risk of falling achievement rates.
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Safe Handling of Medicines and NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Working with People with Mental Health Issues are the latest qualifications to be added to the NQF Health, Public Services and Care portfolio that remain fundable.
David Grailey, CEO at NCFE said: “The real benefit with the funding extension is that it allows teaching staff the opportunity to further prepare for the QCF by using their existing qualifications until the end of the year if they need to.
“Not only does this ease the transition to the new QCF alternatives, many of which are now available through NCFE, but it also provides more time for planning and preparation during these busy, hectic times.”
The 11 qualifications will remain fundable under ALR and +16 funding until the end of December 2010.
Centres that are ready to make the move to the QCF can benefit from a substantial range of QCF qualifications in NCFEs Health, Public Services and Care sector with more updates available online.
The QCF is a framework that provides a new way of recognising skills and qualifications within the education system by introducing a standard currency for learner achievement through the award of credit.
