We’re delighted to bring you a sample of STAEDTLER’s famous 309 handwriting pen this month. Many of you will already be familiar with this popular pen as it’s been a firm favourite in our schools for years now.
Specifically designed to encourage good handwriting skills, the pen is loaded with the following features and benefits:
- tip is designed to provide resistance against the paper which slows children down and encourages tidy writing
- hardwearing plastic tip withstands even child-level pressure
- ‘Dry Safe’ ink which means that the cap can be left off for up to 14 days without the pen drying out
- ink is fully washable from clothing • moulded grip zone for comfort and extra control
- ventilated cap for safety
- long 2,500 metre write-out length
- available in blue, black or red
- pocket clip which prevents the pen rolling on, or even off, the desk
The handwriting pen has always been a firm favourite but recently STAEDTLER decided to put the pen to the test and ask both teachers and children to tell us what they thought about it.
The results have been overwhelmingly positive with all the teachers surveyed saying they would definitely recommend the pen. One teacher summed up the overall benefits of the pens as follows:
“It definitely improved the children’s writing, especially where handwriting was small and untidy. The children much preferred these pens to others and were delighted that their writing was noticeably neater.”
Predictably the children’s views were from a slightly different perspective with all children remarking on the cheerful bright yellow colour except one Year 6 girl who said she loved the pen but ‘it would look nicer if it was baby blue with flowers on the barrel’!
The children were nothing if not thorough in their testing with one child helpfully holding the tip against his red sweatshirt until a large blue patch had appeared. The horrified teacher propelled him to the cloakroom and was delighted to report that she was able to remove it completely with the aid of washing up liquid.
“Clear, legible handwriting is vitally important”
STAEDTLER was delighted to support a recent handwriting competition for primary schoolchildren in Altrincham.
The competition was organised by the Rotary Club of Altrincham and involved Key Stage 2 pupils from Broomwood, Cloverlea and Navigation primary schools.
STAEDTLER donated 500 of its popular handwriting pens for the children to use in their efforts and then provided individual sets of writing materials for the winning children. Graham Harrison, Business Education Manager at STAEDTLER, comments, “Clear, legible handwriting is vitally important even in an age dominated by computers and so we were very pleased to support this extremely worthwhile initiative aimed at encouraging children to acquire good handwriting skills.”
