INSPIRING FUTURE TALENT: STEMNET AWARDS

To highlight the achievements of inspirational individuals and organisations that provide extraordinary support in energising STEM learning to captivate and capture the next generation of engineers, scientists, technologists and mathematicians, a national awards ceremony is being held on:

DATE:  Monday 21st June 2010

TIME:  12.30pm-2.30pm

VENUE:  The Cholmondeley Room, House of Lords, London SW1A 0PW (Black Rod’s Garden Entrance on Millbank opposite Abingdon Green)

STEMNET currently has over 20,000 individuals, mainly from STEM related companies and organisations, who are giving their time and enthusiasm free of charge to inspire young people to study STEM subjects and pursue a career in STEM.  In addition, almost 1,000 schools are running after-school STEM Clubs using STEMNET’s free professional expertise and guidance.  The stimulating work of teachers and schools together with that of STEM Ambassadors and employers is helping to motivate our scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians of tomorrow.      

Lord Oxburgh, the host of the event will welcome guests followed by an introduction by STEMNET Chairman, Professor Michael Stirling.  Andrew Miller, Chair of the Science and Technology Committee will be attending.  Four Awards will be presented by writer, broadcaster and scientist, Vivienne Parry for:

-          Most Dedicated STEM Ambassador

-          Most Dedicated STEM Club

-          Most Dedicated Teacher

-          Most Dedicated Employer
