KATIE PRICE MAKES A SPECIAL VISIT TO REWARD YOUNG FUNDRAISERS AND THEIR BENEFICIARIES
Published:  19 March, 2010

Katie Price, as Patron of Vision Charity, expressed a wish to meet the children who, having seen her run the Marathon for Vision decided to raise money for the Charity. Through a sponsored fancy dress walk these children from The Orleans Park Secondary School in Richmond raised £2500 which they donated to Vision Charity an organisation that raises funds for blind, visually impaired and dyslexic children. She accepted the cheque from the students on behalf of Vision at a special ceremony.

In turn, Vision looked to place the money with a local project so that links could be forged with Orleans Park in order that the students themselves could see where their money was being utilised. The chosen project was at Linden Lodge School in Wandsworth which caters for pupils who are multi disability and visually impaired.  It is going towards building a Performing Arts and Movement Development Centre with specialist state of the art facilities. In total, Vision has donated £35,000 to equip the new centre.

Katie Price came to Linden Lodge at the very beginning of this wonderful project especially to meet the pupils who will benefit and also the amazing students from Orleans Park who raised the money.

She spent a long time meeting every single child and having her photo taken with each one.  This was an opportunity to further the partnership between Orleans Park & Linden Lodge and to support the outstanding work of Vision which promotes improved opportunities for VI and multi disabled children and young people.

Katie Price said “I am a great supporter of Vision as they always make it clear how the money will be spent. This new centre will be an amazing facility and as a mother of a multi disability blind child I know only to well how vital these centres are. I will definitely come back to see how the project is progressing and to see it when it is completed

She went on to say how impressed she was with the students of Orleans Park School and encouraged them to continue supporting Vision. She challenged them to organise a 10 mile run which she would take part in for Vision.  When the Head of Linden Lodge offered to include his pupils too Katie offered to help push the chairs.

Roger Legate the principal of Linden Lodge School said ‘This has been a unique journey with opportunities for many young people to work together to promote disability and improve life chances for young people. Vision with Katie Price have made our dream come true in providing key specialist facilities

Larry Davis, Executive Director of Vision Charity said ““As the pupils of Orleans Park School forge their own path it is wonderful that they are already showing respect for others and compassion.  Whilst they are working to fulfil their potential, they are also helping the pupils of Linden Lodge to have a chance to achieve theirs”.
