Renaissance Learning
Published:  09 December, 2009

Visitors to stand C16 at BETT 2010 can experience Renaissance Learning’s acclaimed approach to successfully raising standards of reading, writing and maths amongst pupils of all ages and abilities.

Originally developed in the US to raise literacy standards; Accelerated Reader (AR) is a data-rich web-based program that provides real time formative assessment.  Fun, motivational quizzes engage reluctant readers and promote reading for pleasure, whilst the Home Connect interface allows parents and carers to be easily informed of individual pupil progress.

Also offering personalised learning to pupils from Year 2 to Key Stage 4, Accelerated Maths (AM) focuses on the key Practice-Test-Review aspects of learning.  Designed to complement existing teaching plans, AM is aligned with National Numeracy Strategy and APP – thereby allowing teachers to follow Assessment Foci.

Each of these programs is supported by STAR Reading, Maths and Early Literacy products that accurately establish a pupils’ level of ability and understanding of literacy and numeracy in relation to National Curriculum levels.

NEO 2, from Renaissance Learning’s AlphaSmart division, is a robust, lightweight and portable word processor that has been proven to motivate even the most reluctant writer.  Simple to use and offering an incredible battery life, NEO 2’s versatility has been significantly enhanced by Text2Speech – which quite literally ‘gives writing a voice’.  Thanks to NEO 2’s in-built infrared facility, users can hear what they have typed – letter by letter, word by word or sentence by sentence – through speakers or headphones.  Perfectly suited for users with special educational needs and learning disabilities, the words are highlighted on-screen as they are read.

The recently developed NEO Share software – together with 2Know! and AccelTest – utilise NEO 2’s wireless capabilities to promote collaborative writing and increased class participation through  assessment for learning.

Special offers will be available, and visitors to BETT who bring their PO Books and place a NEO 2 order on the day will receive exclusive discounts.
