Pinelog has the answer

Moulton College has an unrivalled reputation for excellence in training for the land based industries. The need arose for a pet shop and florist on campus, to be used as a teaching aid and provide horticultural and animal welfare students with first-hand retail experience.

The shops were planned as an extension to the college's garden centre so a single building made from natural materials but steered well clear of something that looked like a large wooden ‘shed' was required. There was also a tight deadline, the building had to be up and running in a few weeks.

Pinelog had the answer and having visited a similar unit, a building was designed to the college's requirements creating separate areas for a Florist and Pet Shop. A bulk store/washroom completed the layout. Outside, a run of decking eliminates the effect of the sloping site and provides a welcoming entrance to the shops.

Fully compliant with building regulations, the retail unit benefits from the use of energy-efficient materials and features which translate into low long term maintenance and running costs.

Bright and welcoming interiors are created by incorporating large windows and feature glazed gables and the building is clad internally with hard wearing tongue and groove pine. Externally the building benefits from durable and attractive larch cladding.

Pre-manufactured in Pinelog's Bakewell factory, the building was delivered to site in four sections, craned onto simple raft footings and bolted together. Pinelog was able to build, complete and hand over the building just nine weeks after the order was placed.
