The Waxworks has undergone a period of transformation involving over £1 million of investment and in addition to rock stars, footballers and stars from the large and small screen the site, based over five floors, has an amazing time line taking visitors through historical periods from Medieval through to the present day.
The package has been developed in association with a panel of teachers and covers subjects including literacy, numeracy, art, design, history and drama. Each subject is linked into the National Curriculum and the trip from start to finish takes up to four hours.
The Louis Tussaud's attraction and this new learning experience is designed to be very interactive. Pupils can follow the timelines completing the work sheets and along the way have their photos taken with some of the people who have shaped the way that the world is today including Henry VIII, Queen Victoria and Winston Churchill.
"Many of the characters seen in books or online will be brought to life through a visit to Tussaud's," says General Manager Matthew Titherington.
Matthew continues: "Being able to touch and stand next to the figures that they are learning about, as well as physically following the timeline around the attraction definitely makes a difference with recall about certain points in history."
With the summer holidays on the horizon all teaching staff are welcome to visit Louis Tussaud's during the break with their families and just need to present some form of identification, i.e. school letterhead or an NUT card at the reception desk on arrival.
