After sifting through hundreds of mouthwatering recipe submissions from school pupils across the country, TV chef Phil Vickery and premium discounter Aldi picked Ellie-Mae Warden from Forest Lodge School in Leicester as the winner of Phil's Cooking Academy competition.
Phil himself made a personal appearance at the lucky pupil's school yesterday. Ellie, aged 8, won the special visit and cooking lesson for herself and her Year 4 class by sending in her ‘Marrow Madness' recipe to the website. Her recipe stood out to the judges as it was not only healthy and delicious but Ellie's class even grew the vegetables themselves in the school's vegetable garden.
Since www.philscookingacademy.co.uk was launched in March, in partnership with Aldi and the Department for Children, Schools and Families, hundreds of schools across the UK have signed up to cook along with Phil's interactive podcasts and sent in their recipes.

School pupils were invited to upload their very own dinner dish ideas to the website, which were judged by Phil in his search for the most creative recipe creation.
Phil's interactive website was launched into classrooms to inspire kids and young adults aged 7-14 to get cooking and teach them a range of essential kitchen skills. As well as interactive podcasts, the website features information on food hygiene, nutrition and safety tips along with a host of teaching resources.
