Safe4KidzTM helps teachers keep internet safety, simple and effective
Published:  16 April, 2009

Safe4Kidz offers schools an innovative, easy to use, internet security solution, specifically targeted at keeping children safe while they use PCs to access the Internet. The user-friendly software allows children to access the benefits of the Internet without leaving them vulnerable to online risks. Aimed at 4-12 year olds, Safe4Kidz content is perfect for Key Stage 1 & 2 children.

Modern education increasingly exploits ICT for delivery. The Internet is also a key part of after school activity both for study and leisure. The failure of internet security measures adopted by schools and parents leaves children exposed to online risks, with the responsibility for safe browsing ultimately falling on the child and parent. Without effective enforcement measures, unacceptable content can, and will be viewed, often unintentionally. Safe4Kidz uniquely protects the most vulnerable 4-12 year old group who should never be exposed to offensive or threatening material either accidentally or through peer pressure.

Safe4Kidz allows access to thousands of websites which have been reviewed to ensure they are safe, fun and useful for children. Content is sub-divided into Categories that cover learning topics such as English, Maths, Science, Music and leisure topics such as Television, Film, and Games. Safe4Kidz blocks offensive words and terms in websites so children can use Google and Wikipedia for example, without reaching offensive pages; it supports time limited access to web pages and programs; it prevents under-age access to social networks; it prevents credit card abuse; and it includes a range of safeguards to prevent the use of proxy servers. Safe4Kidz is also tamper proof, with advanced protection against unauthorised uninstall, changing configuration files and application termination.

Safe4Kidz is setup from a browser-based console, so teachers can view and manage classroom PCs remotely, including blocking new content. Groups of PCs can be labelled and then managed from one place.
