Full marks for Wolseley with new education event
Published:  17 February, 2009

Wolseley has announced its first ‘education event' at its Sustainable Building Center (SBC) in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

The UK's leading plumbing and heating distributor, also a major supplier of construction materials, is running the free event on 29 and 30 April from 10am - 4pm. The event, which includes seminars, is aimed at those involved in the early design stages of new build or refurbishment school projects, such as local authorities, contractors and head teachers.

The seminars will provide a valuable insight into the latest sustainable products and technologies which are available today - from their system design and relevant applications, to efficiencies and payback. Attendees can get advice on complying with the latest legislation impacting the education sector, as well as see more than 170 products in their working environment to discover how these can make a difference in creating sustainable, efficient and stimulating educational environments.

Representatives from the British Council for School Environments, of which Wolseley is a member, will present on the first day: Nick Mirchandani of architecture plb and Peter Hazzard from Cundall will share their experiences and lessons learnt from a Building Schools for the Future (BSF) project in Luton. BRE senior technical consultant Steve Brown will be speaking on the second day. He will describe the BREEAM process and discuss the approach required to achieve a ‘BREEAM Very Good' rating, which is a key criteria for all education programmes.

Wolseley's head of sustainability Tim Pollard said: "We are delighted to host these specialist education events and look forward to hearing our speakers. Representatives from Wolseley's leading businesses, including Plumb Center and Build Center, along with leading manufacturers, will also be on hand to discuss the requirements for any specific project, and highlight the benefits of collaborating with Wolseley at the start of a project.

To register on either or both days of the event, please contact Hannah Leyland on 01926 705243 or email contact@wolseley.co.uk
