Winning security solutions from Olympic Communications
Published:  15 March, 2007

Network solutions provider Olympic Communications is proving itself as a forerunner in the Education sector by offering unique solutions in the bid to make our schools and colleges safer.

Established in 1992 as a quality installer of structured cabling systems, Olympic Communications has been designing and installing IP network infrastructure solutions across a wide variety of educational establishments.

Having created voice and data communication infrastructures throughout many schools and colleges in the North West, Olympic is now aware of a growing need for increased security and surveillance solutions.

Individual schools across the UK can experience an annual spend of up to £30K in dealing with the effects of vandalism on their premises. 75% of fires in schools are the result of arson and usually happen after the school has closed. In 2006, arson cost schools £40 million pounds - an expense that can be ill afforded and one that can be addressed cost-effectively by utilising existing network infrastructure.

It has been proven that crime can be reduced by as much as 92% where a visible CCTV system is installed.

The cabling infrastructures installed in most educational premises provide IP voice and data solutions, which have been previously unable to support additional solutions such as CCTV. Olympic Communications is able to offer CCTV type connectivity using the existing IP infrastructure.
