Aimia Foods this month rolls out to primary school caterers a new own-brand Freshers Dilutable Juice drink, developed to comply with strict government legislation – and provide an affordable alternative to the ready-to-drink (RTD) juice drinks.
The new Freshers Juice Break, available in Apple & Blackcurrant and Orange variants, is packed in a seven litre bag-in-box format. A unique delivery tap mechanism enables quick and easy dispense, invaluable when serving a queue of thirsty pupils at lunchtime. Priced as little as five pence per cup, the Freshers pure fruit juice drink costs less per portion than the lowest-priced RTD drinks.
Martin Armitt, marketing controller for Aimia Foods, said: “The new generation of juice drinks needs to be much more than simply compliant with government legislation: they must also be cost effective, tasty and easy to serve to win over school caterers and students. We have the ideal solution.”
Armitt has good reason be confident of the product’s success. Feedback from early product trials in 30 schools across the UK has been exceptionally positive, demonstrating the practicality, cost-effectiveness and popularity with pupils and school caterers and administrators alike. As a result, the Freshers Juice Break is expected to fast become a firm fixture in school cafeterias.
“School caterers face a tremendous challenge every day. Not only do they need to satisfy some of the UK’s most demanding customers, but also make every penny count. Reformulating our beverages for schools was just the first step. Restructuring the way the product is served enabled us to significantly enhance the product’s benefits far beyond its healthy credentials,” explains Martin.
Aimia Foods offers a wide range of products for schools which are compliant with new legislation, including b2b smoothies, Del Monte Pur Fruit Juice, cocoa, baking products, coffee and tea. Aimia Foods’ Rehydration Zone BRITA water dispense machines, a cost-effective alternative to the traditional “bubble up” systems, are also an ideal choice for schools.
