Award Winning Educational Software
Published:  19 June, 2008

A fantastic range of entertaining, brain-challenging software that helps children improve their literacy and numeracy skills, is now available from Formjet.

The award-winning EdAlive range, already in use in schools, has been designed to comply with the National Strategies for Literacy and Numeracy and is fully approved as content by National Curriculum Online. By incorporating any of the EdAlive products in your lesson plans, you will be incentivising children to grasp key learning concepts, hone their brain skills, and have a lot of fun.

EdAlive solutions are compatible with Microsoft XP and Vista, plus Apple Mac, and are available in single user format, or versions suitable for network deployment.

The Braintastic! range uses integrated reward games and challenges to motivate children to learn and improve core skills. Braintastic! Word Skills delivers individually crafted questions and multiple activities for improving word skills and gaining a better understanding of word concepts. Braintastic! Maths Skills features 11,000 questions purpose built and carefully sequenced by experienced maths teachers.

Children will find the embedded challenges both motivating and humorous. Word Skills consists of three titles and Maths Skills four, with each range fully compliant with Key Stages 1, 2 & 3 and aimed at pupils aged 4-15. Multiple users can be set up per title, meaning that each child has its own log-in details, and can therefore restore a game at the exact point where they left it.

One of the most important features of the Braintastic! range is its inbuilt Administrator function, allowing teachers and/or parents to review exactly which questions have been answered correctly and incorrectly.  This means that each child's areas of strength and weakness can easily be identified and focused upon where necessary.

Words Focus - Words Rock is a multi-player computer board game helping children to build word power, spelling skills, grammar and punctuation proficiency. It has an engaging story-line, where up to four players hunt down slippery Super Slugs and use gadgets to outsmart their rivals.

The two Maths Focus titles, Volcanic Panic and Baggin' the Dragon are also electronic board games for up to 4 players. Volcanic Panic lets kids build problem-solving strategies and mental maths power by focusing on core skills such as addition and subtraction, while engrossed in trying to escape from a volcano that's about to blow.  Baggin' the Dragon, with its medieval backdrop and fire-breathing dragon, lets children explore measurement and maps, angles and space, time, patterns, probability, statistics, shape, graphs and formulae. Great for revising tables and number bonds.

Maths Focus - Ultimate Maths Invaders is a fast-paced arcade-style single player game - fun, flexible and focused on quickly developing automatic recall of essential maths facts covering Key Stages 1, 2 & 3.

All Word Focus and Maths Focus programs allow differing ability levels per player to be set, so that players of all ages and abilities can compete fairly and play together simultaneously.

Typing Focus - Typing Tournament is not restricted to children and will help anyone to develop or improve typing skills and keep ahead in today's computerised world.

All EdAlive titles are supplied as easy-to-install CDs and come with full technical support.
