Yamaha starts jammin' with teachers
Published:  19 June, 2008

Yamaha Music UK Ltd has launched an exciting new educational resource, Yamaha Education Friends, a place where teachers, groups and music education practitioners can connect, interact and collaborate with each other. With Yamaha's core aim of attracting more people into music-making, this new site will support teachers in doing just that, by helping them to share ideas, problems and solutions with other teaching colleagues throughout the UK.

The plan is to grow a vibrant on-line community around the site which is powered by Webjam and features forums and discussion boards, one-to-one communication with other members, YouTube video links, MP3 player and much more.

Additionally the Yamaha webjam has a unique replication system which allows teachers to create their own blogs about music education which can all be linked back to the main community. Members can keep themselves updated about up-coming events in the industry and Yamaha schemes for students and teacher workshops. Streaming video and MP3 files can also be posted.

Yamaha's recently appointed education manager Bill C Martin comments: "We are really inspired by our new education community resource. Our original idea was a blog-style environment where teachers could exchange ideas and contribute to the music education debate but having teamed up with Webjam we realised we could do so much more! It's very simple to set up and the interface works brilliantly. We strongly urge teachers and musicians who work in education to visit and take a look."

Yamaha reports that the site has already attracted a huge number of visitors and is well on the way to becoming a real community, allowing teachers to make their voice heard. Yamaha is inviting new members, who can join up free by visiting http://www.yamahaeducation.co.uk/
