Anti-bullying campaign
Published:  15 May, 2008

The Police Community Clubs of Great Britain (PCCGB) are currently involved in launching the biggest child safety programme for schools across the UK due to problems that children face because of bullying.

According to the PCCGB, 450,000 children reported bullying incidents, truancy increased and 22 children in this age group committed suicide in the last year alone. Local supplier of educational resources, AtoZ Supplies, recognises that bullying is an issue faced by all schools and has teamed up with the PCCGB to tackle bullying in Essex Primary Schools, sponsoring over 100 children across three different schools; Broomfield Primary School in Chelmsford, St.Thomas of Canterbury in Thurrock and St Osyth in Clacton to provide them with literature and equipment to help them beat bullying.

The PCCGB campaign aimed at beating bullies and anti-social behaviour, involves facilitating relationships between local businesses and schools to provide educational material.

As part of the sponsorship package, each school will receive a variety of educational material and products designed to raise awareness of bullying among children. This includes a copy manuscript of the PCCGB play ‘Say Something', which children are encouraged to re-enact to the rest of their school, as well as a copy of the PCCGB booklet ‘Barney and Echo', which teaches children about bullying.

In addition, all sponsored children will receive a blue anti-bullying wristband, and those deemed as vulnerable to physical abuse will receive a personal attack alarm.
