Carillion IT Services provides IT support to UK's newest University

Carillion IT Services (formerly Alfred McAlpine - IT Services) today announced that it will provide IT support for the newly formed University of Cumbria for the next three years. Carillion will provide a full upgrade to the existing IT infrastructure of all six of the university's campuses, supplying IT and security equipment and network support.

The Cumbrian campuses of the University of Central Lancashire, Cumbria Institute of Arts and St Martins College merged to become the University of Cumbria which is now responsible for around 15,000 students. Carillion IT Services will ease the transition and provide students with a first class environment for learning.  The University of Cumbria appointed Carillion IT Services due to its ability to demonstrate a comprehensive, innovative and tailor-designed project. Phil Molyneaux, ICT Manager at University of Cumbria said: "We were very impressed with the understanding Carillion has of the further and higher education sectors and we believe they are the best suited to provide the IT support for a learning environment which is innovative, flexible and student centred."

Carillion IT Services provides innovative outsourcing, managed services, IT infrastructure and communication solutions across the education sector. Customers include: Bolton University, Heriot Watt University, Robert Gordon University, Stockport College, South Ayrshire Council and North Lanarkshire Council.
