Rakegate Infant and Rakegate Junior recently merged resulting in a new purpose built facility which is capable of catering for the modern educational needs of the Rakegate community. Alumasc's Swistherm external wall insulation system was selected for the development as it provided a façade solution that effectively wrapped the building in a thermally-efficient envelope, dramatically reducing heat loss, conserving energy and eliminating internal condensation.
Quickly and easily installed, Swistherm is the premier choice for newbuild applications, offering a choice of insulating materials - 90mm polystyrene was specified on this project. The insulating slabs were mechanically fixed to the structure, creating a protective core which has considerable sound-reduction qualities. A fibreglass-reinforced base was then applied and skimmed with decorative render in the material, texture and colour of choice.
For the Rakegate School project, Alumasc's lightweight self-coloured silicone render finish was applied overall, the specified shade of turquoise being selected from over 400 available colours. The striking colour scheme on the rendered panels provides a clean, contemporary look to the school in its urban setting. Silicone render is available in rolled or dragged surface textures, and offers outstanding weathering and weatherproofing properties, giving a projected life expectancy in excess of 30 years.
