What work can you give the child who speaks no English?
Published:  01 February, 2007

Children who arrive at school speaking no English will usually start taking one-to-one or small group English language classes.

But what does the child do in between these sessions? What can be done to ensure that the non-English speaking child is integrated into the classroom and the school?

One solution involves using software in the child's own language. This helps the child feel part of the school, especially when the program has the option to add English as the child progresses. In this way the child has the familiarity of his/her own language.

These multi-language programs are available from Resource Education as Talk-2-Talk upgrades to the existing Resource software that the rest of the class can also use.

Talk-2-Talk programs are capable of supporting a large number of different languages, any of which can be selected as the first or second language.
