Students become performers
Published:  01 February, 2007

Students throughout the country will be performing on professional stages thanks to the technical expertise and imagination of Stagecraft Theatre Services (STS). One of the country’s leading, staging, lighting and sound companies, STS has completed installations in schools, in the last quarter, worth in excess of £500,000.

“This year we have been involved with the supply and installation of new stage, lighting and sound systems in a number of schools and we have thoroughly enjoyed working with so many teachers and students. In some cases we have been asked to create performance spaces in classrooms, and so we developed portable staging systems which allow classrooms to be used for other lessons as well as drama. It is very rewarding to see students enjoying the performance space we have created, learning how simple lighting and sound techniques can be used in their productions,” said Martin Palmer from STS.

The team at STS has worked with schools in Worthing, East Grinstead, Porchester, Ascot, Guildford, London, Reading and Wales and has installed a wide range of staging and lighting equipment. From audio systems to drapes, lighting desks and lanterns, STS works with each school to develop a performance space which meets with the individual staging requirements.
