Charity initiative

Armitage Shanks, the established face and one of the most instantly recognisable names in bathroom solutions, is again throwing its weight behind the ‘Bog Standard' campaign-drive to improve the standard of all school toilets across the country.

A flush with both quality and innovative design, the Staffordshire-based company is the major sponsor of the Bog Standard campaign, an entity of the national Education and Resources for Improving Childhood Continence charity (ERIC), for a third year running.

Its corporate social responsibly (CSR) and sponsorship of the Bog Standard campaign is well placed alongside the Government's own ‘Building Schools For The Future' (BSF) initiative of 2003, which aims to refurbish (subject to future spending decisions), over a 10-year period, every secondary school in England.

Whilst some schools, as a result of grant aid or not, have taken the necessary steps to overhaul their bathroom facilities, it's clear that many secondary education establishments are still lagging behind when it comes to providing adequate facilities outside of the classroom.

In helping to outline the extent of the problem to schools, parents, local authorities (LAs) and students alike, Bog Standard, with the support of Armitage Shanks, has devised a clear 12-point School Toilet Charter, available to view on www.bog-standard.org/charter.aspx
