Published:  10 April, 2008

The 28th February saw the NEC open it's doors to yet another storm of product hungry teachers who were all looking for the next "must-have" product for the next school year. The show offered decision makers a diverse range of product from pink blu-tak through to a bargain £99 lap top, proving that the Education Show is still the one stop shop for school equipment! Visitor numbers soared over 14,500 throughout the three day event which highlighted the shows importance in the education sectors buying calendar.

Keith Clifford, Marketing Manager at Show organisers Emap Education said: "A high percentage of our 600 exhibitors chose to launch new products and services at this year's Show, and it helped to make it another special event.

"Product launches created a good buzz around the halls and the feedback we have had from visitors confirmed that they found this year's event enjoyable and informative, while exhibitors were very happy with the business they generated."

Within the technology zone Promethean were able to capitalise upon the success they received at the BETT show in January with Activclassroom.  Promethean used all of their technological clout and teaching experience to create primary and secondary interactive education environments which demonstrated the latest Activclassroom addition - Activexpression - the world's first learner response system with full sentence and character texting.

Visitors to the show were able to learn about the power of free text responses for inclusivit, during the Activexpression seminar led by Emma Leacy-Jones, Promethean's learner response systems product manager. She comments: "Activexpression is a major advancement in learner response technology as it enables students to contribute, collaborate and communicate like never before. Seminar delegates were shown the potential of the system for cross curricular activities, and were especially excited that every student's idea could make it on to the board because of the free text response."

The Stationery section of the show was privy to a constant flow of traffic over the s three days will all stands in this area reporting good quality and high volume sales.

"Bostik went down a storm at the Education Show, said Michelle Hayman, Senior Product, Manager, Bostik. They brought a new dimension to the world of ‘sculpting' with their 6ft wide, 30 stone spider, made out of 4,000 packs of Blu-Tack!

"And, on their stand queues of people wanted to have a go at card making using their fantastic range of Sticki Dots, Sticki Tape, Sticki Pads, Sticki Sheets and Sticki Pen.

"Bostik - getting everybody talking and thinking creatively at the Education Show"

Graham Harrison, STAEDTLER's Business Education Manager also commented;

"As usual, the Education Show gave us a unique and invaluable opportunity to meet large numbers of the teaching profession face to face.

This year it also proved the perfect launch-pad for World Kids Colouring Day. This major international initiative from STAEDTLER is designed to raise funds for disadvantaged children all over the world who are denied even the most basic education.

We also introduced ABS, our unique new anti-break-system, across the entire coloured pencil range.  This manufacturing breakthrough encases the lead in a strong, protective coating, making it 30 % stronger.

All in all, a very successful show for us once again."

The Education Show 2009 will take place at the NEC from March 26-28
