Philip & Tacey ERA hatrick
Published:  10 April, 2008

To celebrate the National Year of Reading, Philip & Tacey has developed a new range of literacy resources for Primary schools. The resources are already causing a stir in the educational community with three of the products being short listed for a prestigious ERA Award.

Literacy at primary level has become a major focus for the Government in 2008, with research showing that one in five people in the UK struggles to read and write. Philip & Tacey has therefore joined up with the UK's leading educational specialists, such as Sue Palmer and Pie Corbett, to create quality products to help teachers fulfill the national literacy objectives in a fun and engaging way.

These ERA short listed products include The Traveller's Trunk, developed with leading education professionals Gill Matthews and Sylvia Karavis. The Traveller's Trunk is an exclusive literacy voyage of discovery for key stage 2>4 children, which covers the Primary Framework for Literacy non-fiction text types in a variety of different and exciting formats.

Also short listed, Reading Adventures by Jo Garton - the latest in a lively collection of levelled reading comprehension task sheets, genre posters and multi-sensory resources. Reading Adventures can be used with all kinds of fiction and non-fiction books or texts to help children get the most out of reading.

Finally, Juggling Spelling by Pie Corbett also reached the short list, created to help motivate even the most jaded spellers. This innovative resource has been designed to help pupils to remember spelling and to apply spellings rules when they're writing independently.
