Whitgift School offers some of the finest facilities available nationally and boasts an outstanding physical education and games curriculum. Their Hockey team are current holders of the National Under-14’s title. Having played on one of TigerTurf’s Hockey surfaces, the Whitgift staff were so impressed that they decided to replace their old sand filled pitch with one of TigerTurf’s polypropylene Hockey systems and are delighted with the results. Director of Sport and Head of Hockey, Alistair Osborne is extremely enthusiastic; “When wet it plays like a water based pitch but has the added bonus of not requiring the water. We are already seeing an improvement in the boys play and the long term benefits through the shock pad system will be appreciated by everyone, staff included. We are also able to use the surface as a tennis facility in the summer.”
Hockey Turf 18 is a medium pile, sand dressed, polypropylene system, specifically for Hockey and is just one in a range of different surface types available to suit any application. TigerTurf’s sand dressed pitches feature densely tufted, soft knit de knit yarns, that are part filled with selected round sand. When laid over a rubber pad all FIH playing standards are achieved and the requirement for water is eliminated, ensuring cost savings as well as enhanced play.
