Sound reduction
Published:  12 March, 2008

New to Schüco's AWS aluminium window range is the Schüco AWS 105 CC.HI, a specialist window that delivers extremely high levels of sound reduction (up to 48 dB with appropriate glass) combined with excellent thermal insulation (typical ‘U' value 1.6 W/m2 K for a 1200mmx1200mm window).

The window has been designed for use anywhere where noise is likely to be a problem. It is ideally suited for applications such as specialist schools for the hard of hearing where even moderate outside sound intrusion must be minimised.

Incorporating a double-glazed unit and a single glass pane, the new window has a stylish, highly insulated aluminium frame and is available in a variety of inward opening types including tilt-turn, bottom-hung and side-hung or in combination with fixed lights. Tilt-before-turn sashes are available in sizes up to 1300mm widex2000mm high.

All opening window types can be fitted with Schüco Avantec concealed fittings as standard and there is also an option of an integral blind to provide solar shading. Fitted between the inner and outer glazing panes, the blind is driven by an electrical motor concealed in the frame.

Also available is a structurally glazed vent option, which has the outer single glass pane bonded to the vent frame, reducing the apparent sight line from 103mm to 74.5mm.
