Toshiba - Brighter Colours for Brighter Presentations
Published:  15 February, 2008

Whether it is the worlds lightest laptop, thinnest TV bezel or short throw projection, Toshiba leads innovation. This technology is not necessarily for the rich and famous. It is incorporated in products for day to day use and to fit into the tightest ICT budget.

Short Throw Projectors

Projectors and Interactive Whiteboards in primary schools changed the way teachers plan and teach but some of the early projectors had issues over colour reproduction and glare into the presenter's eyes.

In response, Toshiba developed short throw projectors to reduce glare and shadowing effects caused by the presenter and by pupils.  The EX20 and EW25 projectors and ST20 Classroom Package were launched in October 2007 and were one of the first short throw projectors available. A short throw projector can be mounted on the wall or a ceiling bracket just over a metre away from the interactive whiteboards. If this was not enough, by clever use of the Optics, the Toshiba projector can be installed higher than the interactive whiteboard further reducing glare. Clever stuff and affordable too.

Colour reproduction has been dramatically improved in conjunction with the latest DLP® (digital light processing) chip from Texas Instruments.  Projectors that use DLP® technology are virtually immune to colour degradation.

DLP® with BrilliantColor Technology reproduces excellent colours with good contrast; strong blacks and clear whites and colours that are instantly recognisable. Toshiba have further improved upon this with a unique Natural Colour Enhancer 4 feature and the result is simply outstanding.

Security is an issue with Educational Projectors in schools, so the Toshiba projectors feature user logo capture to identify it as the property of the school, pin code password protection, a Kensington slot and an optional security cage for the ST20.

Education projectors come with a 3 year de-install, re-install warranty and a 3 year warranty on the original lamp.

ST20 Classroom Package

The ST20 Classroom package is designed specifically for upgrading an existing whiteboard projector as well as for installation with a new interactive whiteboard. If you have an existing whiteboard and require a replacement projector, then the ST20 classroom package is a perfect replacement. The wall mounting bracket is quick and easy to install meaning minimum downtime to a classroom. The package comprises of the Toshiba ST20 projector, wall mount and control panel. The simple to use, wall mounted control panel allows the teacher to concentrate on teaching rather than worrying about how to use the projector.

Toshiba T95 - The most flexible replacement solution

Many existing projectors coming up for replacement were installed about 2.8 metres away from the Interactive whiteboard. Others were installed about 2 metres away. The most economic way to replace a projector is to re-use the existing ceiling mount and cabling so to be sure that the projector fits the whiteboard, the T95 has the flexibility to be installed from 1.8 metres to 2.8 metres away.

In addition, most projectors on the market have a 1.2x Optical zoom only allowing an increase or reduction of 20% in image size. The T95 and TW95 have a 1.6x optical zoom, offering an increase or reduction in image size of up to 60% allowing the user to project accurately onto interactive whiteboards. This makes the T95 the most economic replacement projector solution. The T95 uses DLP® Technology  backed up with Toshiba's Natural Colour Enhancer 2 for vibrant colour and good contrast.
