Raising the Fairtrade bar
Published:  15 February, 2008

Café Bar, a leading UK supplier of hot and cold beverage systems, is increasing its ethically branded range of ingredients with the inclusion of the new Malawi Garden and Kericho Estate teas to the portfolio.

Lipton's Kericho Estate, premium black tea, derives its name from the Kenyan Kericho Estate, which is 100% certified by the Rainforest Alliance.  The certification ensures farms, ecosystems benefit through the conservation of natural resources and the protection of wildlife and the environment.  Workers benefit from a cleaner, safer, more dignified workplace where their rights are respected, and farms benefit from improved efficiency, reduced costs and better management practices.

The Kericho Estate tea is available in 12 x 100 envelope bags and is best enjoyed with milk or lemon.  The tea brews to perfection courtesy of Café Bar's Scanomat beverage systems, which feature a hot water facility.

The new Malawi Garden tea, part of Café Bar's extensive range of Flavia ingredients is the company's first sustainable tea.  Caterers choosing Malawi Garden will be directly supporting the community of the Kawalazi tea plantation in Malawi, probably one of the world's poorest nations.

Malawi Garden tea is a finely flavoured tea available in sealed filter sachets for use with Café Bar's Flavia range of ultra fresh, brew by pack drinks systems.
