Improving maths grades
Published:  15 February, 2008

For most maths teachers, if there is one thing that they would really like to do more than anything else, it is to take all the students who are projected to get a grade D or E at GCSE maths this summer and give them the extra tuition and help that will take them up to a C.

The difference between a D grade and a C can be just a matter of a couple of marks - but the impact of that rise in marks is always huge.

For the teacher and the school, grades A* to C are counted in the top echelon and so each C or above takes the school up a point in the league tables.  For the pupil, a pass at C or above can represent entry into a much-wanted job or into the sixth form to study A levels.

One of the leaders in the field of individual learning for GCSE maths is ConquerMaths whose on-line program is already helping thousands of students at all levels get higher grades.   As Val Constable of ConquerMaths says, "This is exactly the moment when students who may be heading for a D or E should use an on-line course.  Three months study leading up to the GCSE exams could make all the difference to the grade."
