A recent survey conducted by Solutions4eLearning Ltd, creators of 'UniTracker', asked 100 teachers involved in the university application process whether they were happy with their institution's current approach to supporting their students. 67% percent surveyed were not happy with the level of support provided and felt that more could be done to support students in writing and submitting their university application.
UniTracker is a web-based eLearning and management system designed to help institutions support their students through a series of online lessons to learn the importance of the university application and what it should comprise of. Students then use the system to write their Personal Statement and can request feedback from their tutor at the click of a button. The management component enables teachers and senior management to track the exact progress of each individual student and provide feedback at any point.
Kathryn Hobbs, Head of Post-16 education at The Nottingham Bluecoat School and Technology College, where UniTracker is used, said: 'UniTracker will revolutionise the way we become involved in our students' university applications. We recognise the value of the technology and see it as an investment to help our pupils get into higher education.'
New features in time for 2008 enrolment include an anti-plagiarism checking component to ensure students are not caught out by the new UCAS anti-plagiarism initiative. In the UCAS anti-plagiarism pilot last year 1 in 20 students were caught cheating.
Matt Green, Solutions4eLearning Director, said 'The functionality of UniTracker saves teachers hours of admin time and is an effective tool for improving the quality of students' applications to help ensure that they secure a place at their first choice university, something that the UCAS Apply system simply does not do'
