Opportunities for primary children to enjoy singing
Published:  06 December, 2007

Sing Up is the new Government funded national singing programme which aims to increase opportunities for primary school-aged children to enjoy singing as part of their everyday lives in school, the home and in the wider community. The Sing Up programme will provide resources to help teachers and parents to put singing back at the heart of children’s lives.

The programme will incorporate www.singup.org, a national singing resource including a web-based songbook of new and traditional songs and all the resources that teachers need to integrate singing in their classroom activities. The website will be supported by a free magazine and CD materials, which is available free of charge to all primary schools. You can register for a magazine by visiting the site: You can register for a free magazine today by visiting the website: www.singup.org

The programme also includes a workforce development programme to build the confidence and expertise of teachers and other singing leaders. 24 Area leaders will coordinate singing programmes across England, providing direct support for schools and organizing tailored training programmes. The Sing Up programme was launched on 21 Novmeber following an announcement by Governement Minister, Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, confirming funding of £332 million to raise the standard of music education for children.

Sing Up is the campaign name for the Music Manifesto National Singing Programme, produced by Youth Music with AMV-BBDO, Faber Music and The Sage Gateshead.
