McDonalds Signs Up California Raisins

Global restaurant chain McDonalds is introducing California Raisins into its restaurants. Believed to be a first for California Raisins in McDonalds in any global region, the initial launch is planned for Ireland with the intended roll out across the UK. The move reflects the chain’s decision to offer healthier options to its 54 million daily global customers.

California Raisins in McDonalds will be offered in a unique 14g pack and will form part of the options on Happy MealsTM and will also be available separately. “We are delighted that California Raisins are now available in McDonalds, the fit of healthier, natural fruit such as raisins fits comfortably with McDonalds move to offer more healthy choices” says Peter Meadows Marketing Director for California Raisins in the UK and Europe. Dublin-based Gem Pack Foods is responsible for the new pack format. Bobby Mulligan, Sales and Marketing Director at Gem Pack is also pleased to supply the unique packs to McDonalds “We spent time developing ideas, but the taste and quality of California Raisins made them the obvious choice” says Mulligan.

Gem Pack Foods Was Established in 1967. Its core activity is packing and distributing a range of sugars, rices, cereals/pulses, traditional desserts and dried fruits under the Gem and Gold Seal brands in both retail and catering pack.

McDonald's restaurants operate in 120 countries and territories around the world, and is the world’s 6th largest brand.
