In an increasingly competitive world, students and instructors need to be more than familiar users of digital communications technology to be successful. Certification can help provide the added credential for instructors as well as open new opportunities for students in the 21st century. We will be launching the Adobe Certified Associate Qualification to enable teachers and students to become certified at both entry and professional levels.
Adobe has worked with the education sector for a long time. What benefits can this experience give your customers?
The biggest benefit to our customers comes from the fact that we listen. Adobe is committed to helping the education community improve teaching and learning through the integration of technology into the classroom and the simplification of administrative tasks. Working closely with the education community to understand their needs and to develop solutions accordingly, Adobe has developed a wealth of tools and resources that help to bring the education experience to life.
Technology is now firmly at the heart of every classroom, how can Adobe software enhance the student/ teacher relationship?
Sadly the situation today is only 20% of schools have fully integrated technology across the curriculum. Here at Adobe our goal is to do all we can to inspire adoption of technology. The challenge today is to bridge the student teacher relationship by showcasing the schools that do have technology at the heart of the classroom. Through the creation of curriculum content and certification programs we will enable the teachers, schools and ultimately the pupils to be successful.
How can Adobe’s e-learning solutions help educators?
Adobe e-learning solutions empower administrators and educators to create richer, more interactive distributed learning experiences, assisting them in the creation and development of online content, courses, and virtual learning environments.
A perfect example is the new Diplomas that are launching in 2008. Not all schools will be equipped to deliver the Diplomas, therefore in many areas a ‘lead school’ will need to be chosen. By utilising the Adobe e-learning solutions educators will be able to attend courses, collaborate and above all teach remotely. The cornerstone of the new Diplomas is the concept of Work Related Learning. Adobe Acrobat Connect will extend the classroom into any internet connected workplace, a truly live and engaging experience.
All of this is in addition to providing assessment, tracking, and reporting of student progress; and extending the capabilities of existing Learning Management System applications.
At the heart of Adobe’s e-learning offering is Adobe Acrobat Connect and the Flash Player which is already installed on the vast majority of connected computers worldwide.
There’s no question that technology has had a huge impact on the education sector over the last ten years. How does Adobe see this developing in the future?
Technology has transformed the world, and this revolution has undoubtedly started in the classroom. Today every school has access to computers and the internet, this is just the beginning. As the future unfolds we will see more schools fully embracing ICT across the curriculum, which will in turn further stimulate the students and ultimately drive the adoption of technology.
